Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch the Xiaomi 13 smartphone lineup at an event later this week.
The manufacturer moved to the Chinese social network Weibo to confirm that it will announce the Xiaomi 13 series in China on Thursday, December 1 at 19:00 Beijing time (11:00 GMT).
Xiaomi has also confirmed what the lineup will look like this year. Apparently, it will consist of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, as well as the new MIUI 14 interface.
The dates of this event fall somewhat earlier than Xiaomi 12 series of events last year, which took place at the end of December. This time there is also no mention of the Xiaomi 13X, which would be a follow-up to the more affordable and pocketable Xiaomi 12X of last year.
Xiaomi continues to detail some of the specifications. How Android Authority Highlights, the Xiaomi 13 will have a flat OLED display and a 1.61mm thick bezel.
Interestingly, the series will also receive IP68 authentication, the lack of which was criticized in the rest of the very neat Xiaomi 12.
We expect the Xiaomi 13 series to be powered by the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. We also heard from a reliable tipster that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will have a beefy Sony IMX989 image sensor camera as part of a 50MP triple array.
The same tipster also claimed that the Pro will have a 4,800mAh battery and 120W charging.
In any case, we won’t have much time to find out, because at the time of writing the Xiaomi 13 is only two days away. We’ll bring you news of its launch on Thursday as soon as we know more.
