Three people were reported killed on Friday in a building collapse in Equezha Market, Uburu Okhaozar Ebony Local Government Area.
Stores in the market collapsed during a downpour last Friday.
Ebony Gov. Governor David Umahi reacted to the incident, describing it as a gross shock.
He said the disaster was alarming, annoying and catastrophic.
He sympathizes with the families of those killed in the tragedy.
And turned to others who received injuries of varying degrees during the incident.
“The news of the unfortunate incident of the fall of part of one of the shades in the Ekeaja market and the death of three people as a result of the incident we received with gross shock.
“As mortals, we cannot question God, but we fervently pray that Almighty God will give the victims peace in their wombs and comfort their families,” he said.
Umahi, appealing to the families of the victims to support the result as the will of God, prayed for a speedy recovery of those injured during the collapse.
“However, we pray that Almighty God will give the hospitalized victims a speedy recovery and reintegration with their families.”
He ordered police and other relevant agencies to immediately launch a full-scale investigation to identify the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
“Therefore, I ask our security authorities to cooperate with the engineers of the Ministry of Labor and the project contractor to immediately mobilize for a thorough investigation of this annoying incident to identify the causes of the ugly incident to prevent its recurrence.”
