The Shanghai Disney Resort, which includes Shanghai Disneyland, shopping facilities and restaurants, will be closed indefinitely starting on Halloween due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We will notify guests as soon as we have a confirmed reopening date,” the park said the statement said Monday.

Two hotels in the resort will remain open.

Affected customers will be able to choose a visit date up to six months after the park and resort reopens or receive compensation.

The Shanghai Disney Resort requires guests to submit a negative nucleic acid test, which helps detect viruses and bacteria, 72 hours before entering the properties. Persons who have been abroad for the last 10 days are not admitted to the sanatorium.

In addition, visitors must wear masks indoors and outdoors, except for eating, social distancing and temperature checks.

In the past 28 days, Shanghai has had 97 cases of COVID-19 and 64,282 cases with 595 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. Over the past four weeks, China has had 178,178 cases and 212 deaths.

On Friday, Shanghai ordered a large number of coronavirus tests for the 1.3 million people living in its Yangpu district and is ordering residents to stay at home, the Associated Press reported.
