The MultiVersus ranked mode was supposed to arrive in August with the Season 1 update. As we neared the release date, Player First Games revealed that the release of the content would be delayed indefinitely. It’s been two months since the announcement and we finally got some information about the ranked mode. It looks like players will have to wait even longer, but the test version of the game mode will be released soon.
MultiVersus will receive a beta version of the ranked mode “very soon”
MultiVersus Game Director Tony Huynh revealed the patch notes for today’s Halloween update and made no mention of a ranked mode. After questions about the game mode started pouring in, Huynh revealed, “A test version of Ranked will be available very soon.”
The game’s player base has declined dramatically since the game’s release. In July, the game had more than 153,000 concurrent players on Steam, and yesterday’s 24-hour peak was just over 3,000 players. While the game has received a ton of content updates and receives regular balance changes, the player base has gone very fast. Many feel that the lack of a ranked mode has taken away the incentive to keep playing the game, and its inclusion could help increase the number of players. Player First has promised that the ranked mode will be available by the end of Season 1.
Season 1 was supposed to end today, but the latest patch extended the battle pass to level 53. There are new rewards to earn, and it looks like the current season will end later than expected. Players will need to level up their accounts and complete games in normal modes to access the ranked mode once it launches, but the specific requirements are unknown at this time.
At the moment, we don’t have an official release date for the ranked mode, but with the new season expected in the coming weeks, we can expect an official announcement in November. Until then, players will have to stick to their normal game modes, including the recently added Growth Spurt game mode “Silly Queue”.
