Epic Games is going to release an Unreal Engine 5 editor for Fortnite later this year.

In an interview with Fast companyEpic Games boss Tim Sweeney talked about how the editor will empower users.

The editor will see “the full features you’ve seen [in Unreal Engine] has opened up so everyone can create high quality gaming content and code … and deploy it Fortnite without having to make a deal with us – it’s open to everyone. “

Sweeney said “about half the time playing Fortnite” is now spent in creative game mode. This means that the opportunity to play with Unreal Engine 5 will be a huge benefit.

“Our goal is to make it a first-class outlet for consumer revenue, just as you might view mobile app stores and consoles and Steam as ways to connect with users. Now people are also considering Fortnite and Roblox as ways to join users.

“Along with that, we’re building an economy, and it’s going to support creators who are actually building businesses around their work,” Sweeney said. He then said it would increase “how much profit from the trade that comes from what people play in their content”.
