This means that next year’s football game will be called EA Sports FC (possibly with a number at the end) and in all likelihood little will change other than that, at least initially.
While you can imagine, a license is not needed for real players or teams, or things like proper equipment and stadium. EA gets it all with more than 300 separate licenses from individual companies, and the only thing they expect from FIFA is their name and the World Cup.
Since this year’s World Cup will be held in FIFA 23, which is expected to be released in September this year. This gives EA four years to figure out what to do with it next time it shows up, and no doubt why they’ve been waiting so far to make the transition.
The change came because FIFA asked for double the amount of money for the license, and also imposed additional restrictions on how EA can use the name.
In any case, according to EA – we never understood the side of FIFA history – but allegedly FIFA prevented EA from implementing much the ideas they wanted to presentincluding modes other than 11 vs. 11, game tournaments, and NFT rumors of a free version of the game.
Despite Fr. long blog on this topic there is currently no indication of what exactly EA Sports FC will be different from the games that were before it, just confirmation that everyone except FIFA is involved in the new game.
“Our vision for EA Sports FC is to create the largest and most spectacular football club in the world, which is at the epicenter of the football fandom,” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.
“For almost 30 years, we have created the world’s largest football community – with hundreds of millions of players, thousands of partner athletes and hundreds of leagues, federations and teams. EA Sports FC will be a club for each of them and for football fans everywhere. ”
