Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 66-year-old technology giant wrote in Fr. tweet On Tuesday, he experiences mild symptoms and “follows expert advice”, isolating himself until he becomes healthy.

“I was lucky to receive vaccinations and stimulation, as well as access to testing and excellent medical care,” – Gates tweeted.

Gates tweeted that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation plans to meet on Tuesday for the first time in two years. Gates says he will join through Microsoft Teams as he thanks the foundation for its hard work.

“We will continue to work with partners and do our best so that none of us have to face a pandemic again,” Gates tweeted.

In 2015, Gates gave Fr. TED talk about global pandemics, warning us that the world is not ready for them.

“We don’t need to panic … but we need to go,” Gates said during his speech.

In a conversation with Ari Shapiro of NPR in 2020, Gates talked about coronavirus response, giving the U.S. a high score for social exclusion efforts but low scores for testing.

“Imagine that diagnosis is available in a month, therapy in four months, and a vaccine in less than a year,” Gates told NPR. “If you have something that grows exponentially, the speed of those responses matters.” .
