While most rumors suggest that Apple will end the iPhone mini series for good, a recent leak hinted that there could be an iPhone 14 mini after all. That stance was short-lived, however, as the same report published an update that Apple would likely replace the mini with a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max.
So, if you’re looking to buy Apple’s 3rd generation iPhone mini, you’re going to be disappointed. However, given that the iPhone 14 will likely look similar to the iPhone 13, it will still be possible to buy the iPhone 13 mini, which is currently one of the most powerful compact smartphones in the world.
Apple has tested the waters with the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, compact flagship smartphones that are slightly more affordable than the regular models. However, due to lackluster sales figures, the company appears to have halted development of the next-generation mini iPhone, which would be known as the iPhone 14 mini.
If we look at the sales figures, then iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro are the best-selling iPhones in 2022. Not only that, but Apple actually sold more iPhone 13 Pro Max smartphones than the iPhone 13 mini. Even in 2021, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro were the best-selling iPhone models worldwide, while the iPhone 12 mini only managed to capture a limited market share.
Apple iPhone 14 alternatives
Given that there will be no mini-iPhone from Apple this year, you can stop at the iPhone 13 mini or the even more affordable iPhone 12 mini. If we look at Android, devices like Asus Zenfone 9 with compact form factor really looks very attractive which is said to be launched in India as Asus 9z with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.
Another interesting flagship-class compact smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, which is powered by the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. With features like a foldable display, an extra screen and an IPX8 waterproof rating, there’s nothing that comes close to the practicality and compactness of the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
