1996 Thriller with Mark Wahlberg Getting TV Adaptation at Peacock


In accordance with DiversityUniversal Television and Imagine Television are currently developing a series adaptation of the 1996 thriller Fear for Paulina. The project hails from Jessica Goldberg, who serves as writer and executive producer.

Upcoming TV remake Fear executive produced by Imagine Television Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Lily Burns and Kristen Zollner. It is a Universal Television production, where Goldberg currently has an overall deal.

“This new contemporary series finds two young lovers in a psychological game of cat and mouse — but who’s the cat and who’s the mouse?” reads the synopsis. “When David and Nicole first meet in Seattle, it seems like an epic, once-in-a-lifetime romance, but it soon becomes clear that the seemingly perfect couple is anything but. Told from conflicting points of view, the series grapples with personal demons, hidden agendas and turns the he said, she said convention into a twist-filled suspense story about a toxic relationship.”

The original film was directed by James Foley. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Reese Witherspoon, Alyssa Milano and Brian Grazer. The story revolves around a 16-year-old girl named Nicole who falls in love with the handsome, sweet and charming David, whom she met through her best friend Margot. However, as their relationship develops, Nicole soon discovers that David has a dark side that is very different from the perfect guy she thought he was.
