Kodeco New Features – January 2023 Update

In October 2022, we released a huge update that you may have noticed – we switched from raywenderlich.com to Kodeco Inc., which included some key changes to our website.

This brand evolution has been more than a year in the making and has brought complete changes to most features (more on them below), but we’ve also brought you some new experiences👇

New opportunities today

Portal of discounts for members

We are pleased to offer members of our Pro and Beginner subscriptions some exciting discounts from partner organizations. When we spot a service or product that our team likes or has found useful as developers (or just people), we reach out to that company to arrange a special discount just for our members. We get nothing in return for these deals, so all the savings are passed on to you.

The same great content with a new look

It’s hard not to notice as soon as you enter the site, but we started the last quarter of 2022 with a new name, Kodeco. Many of you have had the opportunity to experience the updates for yourself, but here is a short article that goes into more detail about this evolution and some of the key changes.

Here’s an overview of some of our big updates:

Sleek, modern and user-friendly page layouts

The landing pages for our learning paths, videos, books and articles now give you a high-level overview of what’s covered, who it’s for, and brief descriptions of each section.

New tools to help better identify topics

We’ve added a ton of new features to help you get used to the new brand through tooltips and a system of icons that are color-coded based on the system, programming language, and other categories our content may belong to.

Optimized video player

We’ve highlighted episode titles, author notes, and transcripts at the front of the page on the left and bottom panels of the video player. All other parts are collected on a convenient “shelf” on the right side, where you can also switch between series and switch to cinema mode.

Dark mode is coming!

While we received many compliments on our new way to Kodeco, the second most received message was a message asking for dark mode to be brought back. Fear not, we’ll launch dark mode as soon as possible.
