At some point in his career, the director James Gunn tried to make a Hitman the movie. Actually broke a Hitman movie just before it landed Guardians of the Galaxy gig at Marvel, a movie that would change the trajectory of his career.
The director responded on Twitter to a fan’s question about what video game series would make a great movie, and he responded with the following:
“A few weeks before I got Guardians, I pitched the Hitman movie. The studio really wanted to hire me, but the producer of this project did not. I was shocked then, but thank God because I would never have been able to do GotG if they had said yes!”
I bet the producer who ditched Gunn is kicking his ass. However, in the end, everything worked out for Hanna, thanks Guardians. But I would like to see what Gan would do with a Hitman movie! I love this video game franchise and unfortunately we never got a great movie adaptation.
Gunn wanted an R rating Hitman movie, but the producers wanted a PG-13 movie, which is ridiculous because a video game is filled with R-rated content. I don’t know how some of these Hollywood executives and producers ended up in their positions. A lot of them seem to lack common sense.
Would you like to see what James Gunn did Hitman the movie?
