If you have likes Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture behind you, you sure know your way around games. The latest from The Chinese Room – Little Orpheus – looks set to continue their trend of brilliance.

We’re excited to launch Little Orpheus on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC (via the Steam and Epic stores), and even though it’s been pushed back to early 2022, we liked the look of it so much that we included it in our March 2022 Up Next article, listing it as one of the most exciting games released on consoles that month.

Priced at £9.99, the game breaks away from the Apple Arcade where it received a ton of acclaim. This time, however, everything has been rebuilt, redesigned and perfect for the big screen. This means you’ll find high-resolution textures, a few new moves, additional animations, and the usual improvements in terms of graphics and effects.

Oh, and with the PC and console launch, Little Orpheus includes a bonus ninth episode.

But with all the good, what is it really? Well, it’s extremely colorful, but from now on, it promises to bring you an adventure game that was inspired by some of the most classic movies – think Flash Gordon, Sinbad and more.

It also manifests itself through a series of biomes – lost civilizations, kingdoms under the sea and through the densest jungles. Little Orpheus has a ton of gameplay ideas, all of which are complemented by some of the most brilliant visuals, acting and sound scores around.

Our full Little Orpheus review and how it plays on Xbox Live, so be sure to read on. There’s a chance you’ll just think it’s one of the best games of the year so far.

“We’re thrilled to bring Little Orpheus to more people than ever before,” said James Schall, publishing director of Secret Mode. “Launching Little Orpheus on PC and consoles with tons of new features gives us the opportunity to introduce our beloved (and often hapless) explorer to adventure game veterans and brand new players alike. We can’t wait for fans to suit up and join us on this once-in-a-lifetime journey.”
