The screen is a perfect OLED panel with a resolution of 4K, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a shape that is perfect for viewing content in widescreen format; the narrowness also makes it easier to sit. We found the triple-camera system to be mostly good, with performance on par with other popular Androids of its era. Battery life was also decent and you get a plug and charging cable in the box (unlike the Xperia 1 IV).
That’s not to say the Xperia 1 III is perfect. We did notice that the screen’s brightness level was sometimes difficult when we were outside in direct sunlight, and the long and thin screen wasn’t to everyone’s liking either. What’s more, when we pushed the camera to its limits, we felt that it was no match for high-end cameras from the likes of Samsung and Apple.
